The Big West Release

IRVINE, Calif. - Freshman infielder Sarah Perez was named The Big West Freshman of the Week (May 6) for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday. 

Perez slashed .714/.750/.714 in Fullerton's 2-1 series win at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. She earned her fifth RBI of the season and scored her 15th run. Perez was 5-for-7 with a walk and no strikeouts. In conference play, she ranks fourth in batting average (.467). She ranks in the top 10 for OBP (.500), OPS (1.011), sacrifice bunts (4) and stolen bases (6). 

The freshman made one start at shortstop but appeared in all three games, where she made five putouts and two assists. She has made 38 total putouts, 23 of which have come against conference opponents, and assisted with 74 this season for the Titans from the middle infield. She posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage against the Rainbow Wahine and holds a .941 fielding percentage on the year. 

Perez and the Titans are set to host Long Beach State for their final series of the regular season. The cross-town rivalry series is slated to commence on Friday, May 10, at 6:00 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader on May 11 will start at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by a Senior Night celebration.
