RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team defeated Cal Baptist, 2-0, in its final midweek game of the season. The Titans improved to 32-12 overall and head into the final two weeks of conference play with a 19-2 record, the best in the Big West.Â
The Titans and Lancers remained scoreless through three innings, seeing outings from
Leanna Garcia and
Eva Hurtado. Garcia (6-0) pitched the first two innings, allowing two hits and two walks with one strikeout.Â
Hurtado entered in the third and threw 2.1 innings before leaving the game. The right-hander struck out two and gave up three hits, improving to 12-4 on the year.Â
Colby McClinton and
Alexia Lopez hit back-to-back doubles to opposite fields in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead. Lopez drove in her 42nd RBI with her 10th double of the season.Â

The Titans extended their lead to 2-0 in the top of the sixth. McClinton singled and advanced to second base, allowing
Sarah Perez to score from second base. Perez, who reached on a single earlier in the inning and advanced on the throw, extended her hit streak to 10 games.Â
Trisha McCleskey pitched in relief of Hurtado to secure the win, 2-0. She earned her first save of the season and held the Lancers hitless while striking out two batters.Â
The Titans return to Anderson Family Field for their final home series this weekend against Long Beach State. The series opens on Friday at 6 p.m. and closes on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
