FULLERTON, Calif. — The Big West has named Abel Jordan the 2024 Men's Track Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Friday.
The sophomore from Madrid, Spain boasted strong performances all season long. He won the men's 100m at last weekend's Big West Championships, breaking his own school record with a time of 10.19. Jordan also placed second in the men's 110H with a personal-best 13.76 and ran the second leg in the winning men's 4x100m squad, which clocked a 39.65. He was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Meet at the competition's conclusion.
Jordan initially broke the men's 100m school record at the Ben Brown Invitational on Mar. 9, when he posted a winning time of 10.30. He also ran the second leg in the program-record breaking 4x100m time of 39.24 at the same meet. The time is also a Big West and meet record.
This marks the fifth consecutive time that a Titan has earned Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Year honors, and sixth since 2017. John Clifford, who won the men's 100m at the 2023 Big West Championships, garnered Men's Co-Track Athlete of the Year honors last season.
