The Big West Release

IRVINE, Calif. - Senior outfielder Megan Delgadillo was named the Big West Field Player of the Week (Feb. 19) for the second week of the 2024 softball season, the conference announced Monday. 

Megan Delgadillo became the first Titan to receive Player of the Week honors this season. She was named to the conference's Preseason Team earlier this year and previously received Player of the Week (Feb. 28, 2022) and Field Player of the Year recognition in 2022. 

Delgadillo batted .684 (13-for-19) for the weekend in Arizona at the Littlewood Classic. She had at least one hit in every game including a double against BYU and Grand Canyon. She had one RBI for the weekend along with five runs scored and three stolen bases. 

Delgadillo earned her 200th career hit as a Titan against BYU after going 5-for-5 against the Cougars on Saturday. With 206 total career hits, she is three hits away from surpassing Nikki Hart (208) for the 10th most career hits in program history. 

Delgadillo is slashing .645/.656/.774 through nine games this season and is 6-for-6 on stolen base attempts. Her 20 hits and six stolen bags are the most by a Big West player thus far, and she ranks second in doubles (4). 

After opening the season 4-0 and holding a 6-3 winning record after a weekend spent at the Littlewood Classic in Arizona, the Titans will remain on the road this week for a mid-week game and a trip to Cathedral City, Calif. for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Titans are scheduled to play LMU on Wednesday before facing Tennessee, Missouri, Seattle University, Mississippi State and Nebraska this weekend.
