LOS ANGELES, Calif . - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team lost in overtime 64-61 at LMU on Wednesday afternoon at the Gersten Pavilion.

After leading 52-49 with 1:05 left in regulation, the Titans were on their way to picking up their first win of the season.  However, Brandi Williams heaved up a desperation three-pointer with 9 seconds left and the shot clock winding down and drew a foul and made all three free throws to tie the game at 52-52.

On the following Titans inbound play, Aixchel Hernandez was fouled immediately.  However, she missed both free throws and LMU couldn't make a shot on their end to send the game into overtime.

Heading into overtime, the Titans were in foul trouble with starting guard Aaliyah Stanton fouled out of the game and Hernandez and Eva Levingston carrying four fouls.  Hernandez fouled out of the game at the start of OT forcing the Titans to play down another man.  The Lions were able to get easy layups down low and outscored the Titans 12-to-9.  Demonnie Lagway hit two big three-pointers in overtime to keep the Titans within a possession of the Lions.

However after the Lions went ahead 63-61 with 13 seconds left.  The Titans turned the ball over on their inbound play to hand the ball back to the Lions.  LMU only made 1-of-2 free throws to make it a 64-61 game with 7 seconds left.  However, with no timeouts and the Titans forced to run the floor they couldn't make a three point basket to send the game into double overtime.

Demonnie Lagway scored a career high 18 points to lead the Titans and all scorers for the game.  She also made a career high 4 three-pointers in the game.  No other Titan reached double figures for the game but all eight players scored at least a point.  Freshman Layla Davis made her Titan debut and contributed with 6 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.

The Titans outshot the Lions 35% to 34% for the game however they got outrebounded 46-to-38.  The Titans once again fell victim to the charity stripe as the Lions went 20-for-27 at the line and the Titans shot a poor 9-for-18 from the line.

The Titans had a good start to the game and jumped to an early 9-2 lead in the first quarter.  They led 12-9 after the first quarter.

The Lions flipped the script and outscored the Titans 18-to-10 in the second quarter and took a 27-22 lead into halftime.

The Titans outscored the Lions 17-15 in the third quarter.  They went on a 8-0 run to start the quarter and took a 30-27 lead.

The Lions then went on a run and took a 36-30 lead before the Titans came back and made the game a one possession game again.

The Lions led 42-39 at the end of the third quarter.

The Titans and Lions traded leads in the fourth quarter with the Titans holding onto the lead for most of the quarter.

However, the Titans struggles at the free throw line came back to bite them at the end of the game and allowed LMU back into the game.

The Titans will head to Long Beach State on Thursday, December 5th to begin Big West play. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM at the Walter Pyramid.
