Titans Lose to Portland State on the road

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team lost 61-52 against the Portland State Vikings on Sunday afternoon at the Viking Pavilion.

Aaliyah Stanton led the Titans with 17 points and Eva Levingston had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the first double-double of her career.

Neither team shot well from the floor this afternoon with the Titans shooting 29% (18-for-63) and Vikings shooting 36% (17-for-47) for the game.  The Titans had a rough afternoon beyond the arc by going 1-for-18.  The Vikings fared slightly better at a 4-for-16 clip. Both sides lived at the free throw line with the Vikings going 23-for-25 from the charity stripe and the Titans going 15-for-18.  The undermanned and undersized Titans actually outrebounded PSU 36-to-35 and had 16 offensive boards.

Aaliyah Stanton led the game off with a layup before the Vikings went on  a 11-2 run to start the game.



The Titans pulled to within four points to make it an 11-7 game after Eva Levingston made a three point play on a driving layup.



Howevr, the Vikings extended their lead to 9 points and led 18-9 after the first quarter.

The Titans quickly halved the deficit to start the second quarter after scoring the first five points of the quarter to make it an 18-14 game.

 The Vikings stretched the lead back to 10 points before the Titans got some scoring back from Aaliyah Stanton and Aixchel Hernandez. Stanton banked a three pointer to make it a 4-point game again at 25-21.  



The Vikings scored on a layup to make it a 27-21 game and six point lead at the half.

The Titans had momentum on their side to start the third quarter after quickly cutting the deficit to 4 points.  The Titans got it back to a one possession game after Levingston hit a jumper with 6:41 left in the quarter.



The Titans took the lead with 2:51 left in the period and Aaliyah Stanton extended the lead to 4 points with 1:30 left on a layup to make it a 41-36 game.  



The Vikings went on a 6-0 run to end the period and led 43-41 after the Titans went down to just five rotation players for the rest of the game.

The Titans were able to keep the game close to a one possession game for most of the fourth quarter and it was a 52-51 game with 2:56 left in the game,  but the Titans were outscored 9-to-1 over the final three minutes of the game.

The Titans will head to LMU on Wednesday for their sixth road game of the season and the third road game in a row.  Tip-off is set for 1:30 PM on at the Gersten Pavilion
