FRESNO, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's golf won second place after shooting a 32-under par 820 at the Nick Watney Invitational after three rounds on Tuesday.Ā
Tegan Andrews led the Titans at back-to-back tournaments to start the season. Andrews placed third overall after shooting a 12-under par 201. His best round, 66, was in the second round on Monday. In one tournament, Andrews set new career bests in round, finish and total strokes.Ā
Matthew Schafer followed closely behind, sharing fourth place with a score of 11-under par 202 (66-68-68). Schafer tied his career-best round, 66, which he set at the Nick Watney Invitational a year prior. Like Andrews, Schafer set new career bests in round, finish and score.Ā
Garrett Boe tied for 16th place with Fresno State's Matthew Sutherland after shooting a 7-under par 206. His best round came in the first round, where he shot a 67.Ā
Trevor McNary finished tied for 33rd place with a score of 1-under par 212.
Russell Howlett completed the Titans team in the Nick Watney Invitational, shooting a 6-over par 219 (76-72-71).Ā McNary and Howlett both improved after each round of golf to help the Titans secure their second-place finish.Ā
Dante Lazare competed as an individual, finishing tied for 67th place after shooting a 10-over par 223 (76-72-75).Ā
The Titans return to the golf course on Oct. 9-10 in Somis, Calif., for the Bill Cullum Invitational.Ā
