Box Score FULLERTON, Calif. – For the second consecutive game the Titans got some late game heroics as DJ Wilson scored in the 88th minute Friday night against James Madison to eventually earn a 1-1 draw at Titan Stadium.
With about two minutes remaining in the match the Titans started playing very direct down field trying to get as many opportunities as possible. Mark Hernandez controlled the ball on the left side of the field and sent in a great cross to Bass Sarr who headed the ball back to Wilson who struck the perfectly from a few yards inside the 18-yard box to tie the game late.
The goal led to the Titans earning a much needed point at home with a 1-1 draw after playing two overtime periods. The goal was Wilson's first of his collegiate career and comes just a few days after Sarr scored in the 87th minute against Missouri State to eventually earn a draw.
James Madison struck first in the 62nd minute on goal by Billy Metzler who scored on a wide open net after he received the ball from Aaron Ward-Baptiste.
Paul-Andre Guerin once again had another strong night in net for Fullerton, making two huge saves to keep the Titans deficit throughout the game to just one goal.
The Titans return to action Sunday night looking to not need late game heroics to come up with a win or draw as they face New Mexico at 7 p.m. PT at Titan Stadium in another doubleheader with the women's soccer team.
