FULLERTON, Calif. – Six Titans earned Big West All-Conference honors headlined by Mario Carlos and Jose de la Torre being named Big West Offensive and Midfielder of the year, respectively.
Carlos scored a team-high seven goals this season which is tied for the most in The Big West. The senior scored five goals in the last six games of the season, including a hat trick in the Titans win over Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 18. Carlos becomes just the second Titan to be named Big West Offensive Player of the Year alongside Roberto Ordonez who did so in 2023. The Torrance native also earned First Team All-Big West.
Sophomore, de la Torre, secured Big West Midfielder of the Year after recording a tied for conference-high 15 points on four goals and seven assists. De la Torre's seven assists led the Big West and ranked tied for 23rd nationally. De la Torre also earned First Team All-Big West.
The Titans have now won Big West Midfielder of the Year four consecutive years with Erick Serrano taking home the award in 2023 & 2024 and Sebastian Cruz in 2022. De la Torre becomes the fourth Titan to win the award alongside Cruz, Serrano and Ross Mcphie.
Defensive standout Nick Relerford earned Second Team All-Big West. Relerford recorded one assist on the year but was monumental to the Titans backline while also contributing on the attack.
Ulises Grado, Matthew Sacristan and Fernando Valenzuela earned Big West Honorable Mention. Grado finished the season on a tear, scoring all five of his goals in the last six games of the season.
Sacristan has been instrumental in the Titans midfield, both defensively and offensively. The Spaniard recorded one assist on the year, coming in his final regular season game against UC Davis on Oct. 25.
Valenzuela handled much of the scoring early in the season before the likes of Carlos and Grado came to form. The junior recorded 10 points on the year with four goals and two assists.
The Titans turn their attention to The Big West Tournament where they will face No. 5 seed UC Davis in the first round Wednesday night at Titan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
