FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's tennis improves to 10-2 for the season after successfully defeating Toledo 6-1, on Tuesday.
The afternoon started off rocky as the Titans lost the doubles point. Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin lost to Sidnay Huck / Kokoro Chishaki 4-6 while Caisey Lee Emery and Danielle Pham lost to Claire Aleck / Megan Miller 6-1.
Genevieve Zeidan and Masako Makiba were able to find a win against Deedee Leenabanchong / Mimi Kendall-Woseley 6-3.
The Titans did not let losing the doubles point get to them as singles play proved to bring Fullerton back into the game.
Genevieve Zeidan pulled off a flawless win against Huck as Zeidan was the first to finish with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Zeidan now improves to 11-1 in duals play.
Karla Portalatin bested Leenabanchong 6-2, 6-2 and now rides a ten-match win streak for the season. Also riding a ten-match win streak is freshman Caisey Lee Emery. Emery defeated Aleck 6-1, 6-3. Emery is 9-0 in dual play for the season.
Sarah Nuno def. Meisha Kendall-Woseley 6-3, 6-1 to hold things down on court number one. Luxizi Meng secured the win over O'Brien 6-4, 6-4 on court number four.
Masako Makiba beat out Rodrigues 6-2, 6-4 and now rides a three-match win streak.
Fullerton is back at home on Friday as they play host to Boston University at 1:30 p.m. PT
