RIVERSIDE, Calif. – In Saturday's match against UC Riverside, the Titans pushed passed the Highlanders to earn a 6-1 win. Fullerton moves to 3-1 overall, (1-0 BWC), Riverside falls to 1-4, (1-0 BWC).
The tandem of Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno made themselves comfortable in their usual No. 1 doubles spot. The duo nabbed the first point of the match as they defeated Sara Khattab and Tia Elpusan 6-1. Nuno and Portalatin are now 12-2 for the season with a two-game win streak.
In the No. 2 doubles spot, Masako Makiba and Genevieve Zeidan kept the hot streak going for the Titans as they bested Lauren Wolfe and Tamilla Vaksman 6-2. Makiba and Zeidan are now 3-2 for the season.
Jadie Acidera and Danielle Pham wrapped things up for doubles play as they secured the final point with a 6-4 win over Karla Dulay and Tracy Van.
The momentum from doubles play drove into singles play as Sarah Nuno pushed past Karla Dulay 6-0, 6-1. Nuno's overall record is now 10-4 with a two-game win streak.
Genevieve Zeidan beat out the Big West Player of the Week (1/31) Sara Khattab, 6-0, 6-1. Zeidan houses the best record for the Titans this year as she moves to 13-2. Karla Portalatin secured another Titans win as she triumphed against Chloe Pham 6-2, 6-1. Portalatin moves to 9-4 overall with a four-game win streak.
Fullerton hit a bump in their perfect road as Tia Elpusan defeated Luxizi Meng 7-6, 4-6, 10-6.
The Titans found their rhythm again as Caisey Lee Emery defeated Lauren Wolfe 6-2, 6-2. Jadie Aciera topped it off the Titans beating out Tracy Van 6-4, 7-6.
Cal State Fullerton heads back home next weekend to face off against Grand Canyon University Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11:00 a.m.
