Tennis Snaps Skid; Edges Aggies, 4-3

March 23, 2011

FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team snapped a six-match losing streak with strong singles play, rallying back from an early deficit to defeat New Mexico State, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Titan Courts.

The Titans improved to 4-14 overall with the win, earning their first victory during their season-ending seven-match homestand.

Three tightly contested doubles matches were all won by the Aggies, including an 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot and a 9-8 victory at No. 2 doubles. However, it would be singles play where Fullerton would shine, posting four straight-set victories - including wins at the top three spots - to clinch the match.

Sophomore Tiffany Mai won in the top spot for the second-straight match and the eighth time in the last 12 matches, defeating Isabela Kulaif, 6-3, 7-5, while Morgan McIntosh, Monica Rodriguez, and Karina Akhmedova also posted wins to help clinch the win.

The Titans jump right back into action on Wednesday (March 23) as they host Eastern Washington at 2 p.m.
