Skyler Thuresson scored from 15 yards out 3:40 into overtime Sunday afternoon to give Cal State Fullerton a 2-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over Coastal Carolina.
The win snapped a 3-match losing streak for Fullerton, now, 4-3, while the Chanticleers fell to 1-5-1.
Fullerton outshot its host, 30-7, but needed an own goal to tie the match at 1-1 in the 63rd minute. Coastal Carolina had taken a 1-0 lead on a sliding, 12-yard goal from MKohokheli Dube at 3:54 of the second half.
Redshirt freshman Tyler Andrews made 2 saves in the Titans' net in his first start to pick up his first collegiate victory. Phillip Latham had to make 12 saves for CCU.
Fullerton played with a man advantage in overtime and the final 7:16 of regulation after CCU's Ross Kelly picked up a red card.
Fullerton opens Big West Conference play Saturday night at home vs. Cal Poly SLO.
