San Francisco, Calif. - India McDaniel scored 17 second-half points to fuel a Cal State Fullerton rally that came up short at San Francisco on Sunday afternoon as Dominique Carter scored 18 points to lead USF to a 70-63 non-conference victory over Cal State Fullerton.

The Dons shot 52 percent from the floor to improve to 3-6. Fullerton lost its second game in a row to fall to 1-7 despite 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench from Amber Pruitt and 14 points from San Francisco resident Charlee Underwood.

USF built a lead as large as 25 points at 56-31 with 14:32 to play before McDaniel sparked a Titan rally. Fullerton went on a 27-4 run that drew it within a basket at 60-58 with 2:42 to play. But the Dons broke the CSF press and Carter fed Lisa Olden for a layup and the Dons then stretched the lead to 64-58 on a Carter jumpshot.

Fullerton got back within three points on a 3-pointer by McDaniel with 47 seconds left but Shay Rollins made a free throw and Nickie Warren rebounded a subsequent miss to set up two more free throws to get the lead back up to 6 points.

USF hit 15 of its first 20 shots in the game and 8 of 9 first-half free throws to build a 42-26 halftime lead. Carter had 14 points before intermission to easily lead all scorers.

The Titans scored the game's first bucket and then took their only other lead at 17-16 on a free throw by Pruitt at 10:19 of the first half. But USF remained hot and started forcing turnovers and the result was a 26-6 run until Charlee Underwood hit a 3-pointer to beat the halftime buzzer.

San Francisco shot only 37 per cent in the second half after a 69.6 per cent first half.

Titans concentrate on final exams this week before playing at USC on Friday night.
