Update on Titan’s Women's Basketball

FULLERTON, Calif. - It was announced on Thursday evening that former first year Women's Basketball Head Coach John Bonner has accepted a head coaching position at Seattle University.

It was an historic 2025-26 season for the Titans women's basketball program as Coach Bonner achieved the program's second winning season since the 1990-91 season.  The Titans went 18-14 overall and Coach Bonner earned the most wins as a first year head coach with the program.  The Titans went 13-7 in conference and were the fifth seed in the Big West Championship.  The 13 conference wins represented the most wins since the 1990-91 season.  The Titans defeated the No. 8 CSUN Matadors in the Big West Championship First Round before the Titans fell in overtime against the No. 4 University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine in overtime.  Coach Bonner helped install a defense that was one of the best in the country at steals and forcing opponent turnovers.  The Titans led the conference in scoring (71.8 PPG) and rebounding (39.9 RPG).  Under his coaching staff's guidance, Cristina Jones was named the Hustle Player of the Year and to the All-Defensive Team and All-Big West First Team.  Kya Pearson was named an Honorable Mention and Nicole Steiner to the All-Freshman team.

"We're very proud of how well our women's basketball team did this past season.  Having one of our best overall records in three decades and making it to the quarterfinals of the Big West Championship," said Jim Donovan, Titans Director of Athletics.

"I feel very grateful that I was able to work with John Bonner and his staff. I'm proud of what they accomplished this season.  The team came together and played the most exciting basketball I have seen in a while," said Sara Perry, Titans Women's Basketball Sports Supervisor and Senior Women's Administrator"

Titan Athletics will begin the process to conduct a national search for the next Head Coach of Titan Women's Basketball.

"We appreciate Coach Bonner for leading our Titan Women's Basketball program this past year, and we wish him the best." said Donovan.
