FULLERTON, Calif. – Following standout seasons Paul Contreras and Mikiah Negrete have been named to ABCA/Rawlings West All-Region Second Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Contreras led the team with a .346 batting average which ranked third in The Big West Conference while adding a team-high 40 runs and 45 RBI. In his second season with the Titans, Contreras hit 14 home runs, the most by a Titan since Christian Colon hit 17 in 2010.
The junior improved his batting average to .436 in conference play to go along with an .802 slugging percentage, .512 on-base percentage and 1.314 OPS, all of which led the Big West. Contreras became the first Titan since Dalton Blaser in 2016 to earn Big West Field Player of the Year honors.
Negrete was the Titans Friday night ace from start to finish in 2026. The senior finished the year with a 9-4 record and 2.70 ERA, the second most wins and third best ERA in the Big West Conference. Negrete struck out 94 batters while walking just 17 in 100 innings pitched. Negrete's 94 strikeouts, nine wins and 100 innings pitched are the most by a Titan since Colton Eastman in 2018.
The Oceanside native threw three complete games during the 2026 season. His first was a complete game shutout at Hawaii where he gave up just two hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters while not issuing a walk. Three weeks later, Negrete threw another complete game to upset No. 6 Oregon State in Corvallis where he gave up just one unearned run. The senior capped off his career with a complete game in round one of The Big West Championship to eliminate Hawaii. Following the season, Negrete earned First Team All-Big West honors.
