FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton fell to Cal Poly, 6-2, in the rubber match Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field. With the loss the Titans drop to 22-28 on the year and 14-13 in Big West play.Â
The Titans struck first for the third consecutive game of the series, scoring one run in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Niko Lombardi scored from third base on a productive fielder's choice by Paul Contreras.Â
Cal Poly answered with three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.Â
Fullerton scored another run in the bottom of the fifth inning on an infield single by Contreras that scored Nick Miller to cut the deficit to 3-2. Contreras went 2-for-4 with two RBI.Â
The Mustangs took a 6-2 lead in the seventh inning after scoring another three runs.Â
Dylan Smith gave the Titans a quality start, giving up just three runs (two earned) in six innings pitched while walking one batter and striking out four.Â
The Titans conclude their home schedule at Goodwin Field for the 2026 season. Fullerton wraps up the regular season next week at UC San Diego beginning Thursday night.
