McCleskey dominates in circle, McClinton homers twice to earn weekly Big West honors

FULLERTON, Calif. – After clinching the 2026 Big West regular-season title in a sweep over crosstown rival Long Beach State, senior Colby McClinton and redshirt-junior Trisha McCleskey were named Big West Field Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

This recognition marked McCleskey's third honor and McClinton's second honor of the season. As a team, the Titans have earned seven weekly awards.

McClinton had a standout senior weekend, going 3-for-7 at the plate for a .429 batting average. Her three hits consisted of a double and a two-run home run in Friday's series opener win and a three-run home run in the series finale. She drove in six runners while slugging 1.429 against the Beach. The senior second baseman also contributed six putouts and three assists to the team's .978 fielding percentage over the weekend.

In Big West play, McClinton has slashed .409/.488/.667 with 27 hits, five doubles, three triples, two home runs, 14 RBI and eight walks. She has swiped six bags and has made 41 putouts and 41 assists from second base. Overall, McClinton leads all conference opponents with 49 runs scored and 10 sacrifice bunts. She also ranks in the top five in batting average (.410), on base percentage (.468), slugging percentage (.712), hits (57), RBI (38), doubles (13) and triples (4).

Against the Beach, McCleskey appeared in all three games, opening the series with a complete-game win, her 12th of the season. She entered game two with two outs on the board in the seventh inning, securing the 6-5 win with three straight strikes. Across 14.0 innings of work, the right-hander allowed five earned runs on 13 hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.

McCleskey has tossed 159.0 innings for the Titans, the most by any pitcher in the Big West and the 18th most among all NCAA DI opponents. She also leads the conference in wins (16) and strikeouts (119).

The Titans close the regular season on the road at UC Santa Barbara, May 1-2, before returning home to host the second annual Big West Softball Championship on May 6-9.
