FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton fell to No. 23 USC Tuesday night at Goodwin Field by a final score of 9-2. With the loss the Titans drop to 19-20 on the year. 

USC got out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. 

Fullerton got on the board in the bottom of the third on a two-out RBI single by Andrew Kirchner to bring Esteban Olazaba home from second base. The freshman Olazaba went 2-for-4 with a run. 

The Trojans countered with three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. 

The Titans got one run back in the home half of the fourth on a solo home run by Max Ortega, his first of the season. 

USC went on to score one run in the sixth and one in the ninth to take a 9-2 lead. 

Nick Santivanez drew his first loss of the year to drop to 2-1. USC's Diego Velazquez earned the win to improve to 3-1. 

Fullerton is back in Big West play this weekend with a three-game series at UC Santa Barbara beginning Friday evening.
