FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Men's Basketball Head Coach, Dedrique Taylor, announced the newest addition to the Titans on Monday, saying "We are elated to add Matthew to the Titan family." Matthew Willenborg will join the Titans for the 2026-27 season. 
 
The 6-foot-7 senior out of Norman, Oklahoma is expected to make a big impact for Fullerton. Willenborg is a well-decorated transfer from the University of Central Oklahoma. During his junior year, the forward nabbed a pair of All-MIAA Conference honors; All-Defensive Team and First Team. The Oklahoma native was also named D2CCA Second Team All-Region. 
 
Willenborg averaged 20.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game during the 2025-26 season. His defense shined, leading UCO and the MIAA Conference in rebounds and blocked shots. The future Titans forward tallied 99 blocked shots on the season, totaling 169 in his career so far, holding the title for most blocked shots in UCO history. 
 
The Big West Coach of the Year added "His experience and productivity speak for itself, but the added elements that he brings with him are character and genuine care and concern for his teammates. As I mentioned his productivity, his ability to score in multiple ways along with his size and mobility give us a much-needed addition to our roster."
 
Willenborg leaves UCO with his name in the record book, ranking seventh with his 673 points in a single season. He also ranks seventh in field goals made (245) and fifth in field goal attempts (505). Lastly, Willenborg's 305 rebounds ranks ninth in UCO program history. He was a three-time MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week and earned NABC-D2CIDA DII National Player of the Week in January.
