FULLERTON, Calif. - The Titans closed the final day of the Convergence Tournament after splitting the day with a loss against No. 11 Michigan Wolverines and a win over the La Salle Explorers.
The Titans improved to 16-9 overall after going 4-1 for the weekend.
Cal State Fullerton 10, No. 11 Michigan 15
Facing off for the second time this season, the Titans hung tough with the No. 11 Michigan Wolverines in the first game of the day. The Titans were previously defeated 18-8 at the Triton Invitational in January. Â
Jade Lonzo led the Titans with a hat trick. Â

Kenzie Searle scored twice while Emme-Doube MacLeod scored once.Â
Renske Boxsem made four saves against the Wolverines.
Michigan raced out to an early 3-0 lead before
Destiny Hernandez scored the first goal for the Titans. Â However, the Wolverines led 4-1 after one.
The Titans outscored the Wolverines 3-to-2 in the second quarter. Â
Kenzie Searle opened the scoring to make it 4-2. Â Michigan got one back before
Jade Lonzo made it 5-3. Â Michigan scored again before
Destiny Hernandez made it 6-4 before halftime.
Both sides scored four goals in the third. Â The Titans got two goals from
Mia Solorzano and
Jade Lonzo to cut the Michigan lead to one. Â They had a powerplay opportunity to tie the game but couldn't find the breakthrough goal and Michigan responded with two straight goals to take a 9-6 lead. Â
Kenzie Searle scored to make it 9-7 before Michigan got one back. Â
Mia Solorzano scored a penalt with one second left to make it 10-8 heading into the fourth quarter.
Michigan took a 13-8 lead after scoring the first three goals of the fourth quarter. Â
Jade Lonzo got hat trick to make it 13-9 with 1:59 left. Â
Emme Doube-MacLeod added a final consolation goal to make it a 15-10 game to finish.
Cal State Fullerton 11, La Salle 10
The Titans won their final match of the weekend in another close game with the La Salle Explorers.Â
Destiny Hernandez led the Titans with three goals. Â
Emme Doube-MacLeod and
Sofia Moschetti both scored twice. Â
Kenzie Searle,
Jade Lonzo, Mikka Von Scheer, and
Lotte Boxsem all dented the twine. Â
Renske Boxsem made 11 saves inside the cage for the Titans.
The Explorers started the scoring before
Lotte Boxsem found the equalizer. Â
Emme Doube-MacLeod scored to make it 2-1 before the Explorers scored to make it 2-2. Â
Jade Lonzo scored with 3:00 minutes left in the first to give the Titans a 3-2 lead after one.
Destiny Hernandez scored her first goal of the game to open the scoring in the second. Â The Titans went ahead 6-3 as
Sofia Moschetti and
Mikka Von Scherr scored.
The Explorers got two goals to close out the quarter to make it a 6-5 game for the Titans after two.
The Explorers equalized to start the third before
Destiny Hernandez and
Emme Doube-MacLeod scored to make it 8-6.
The Explorers went on a 3-0 run to take a 9-8 lead over the Titans before
Destiny Hernandez scored on a penalty to make it 9-9 after three.
In the fourth quarter,
Kenzie Searle and
Sofia Moschetti scored midway through the period to make it 11-9. Â The Explorers got a late consolation goal with ten seconds but the Titans were able to hold on to the 11-10 win.
The Titans return to Big West action on Thursday when they head to UC Irvine. Â
