Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Titans Drop Triton Invitational Finale to CMS

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team lost 15-8 to Claremont-Mudd Scripps in the 13th place game in their Sunday finale at the Triton Invitational at the Canyonview Pool.

The Titans finished the weekend 1-3 but picked up their biggest win the day before after beating the No. 19 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.

The Titans had seven unique goalscorers for the game with Elise Bliss, Destiny Hernandez, Delaney Latham, Neida Torres, Kenzie Searle, Sofia Moschetti, and Emme Doube-MacLeod scored twice.

It was a close game in the first quarter with the Athenas scoring twice before Bliss scored before the quarter ended to keep it a 2-1 game.

In the second quarter, Kenzie Searle tied the game up early at 2-2 before the Athenas scored three straight to take a 5-2 lead.  Emme Doube-MacLeod scored her first of the day to make it a 5-3 game before halftime.

The Athenas outscored the Titans 5-3 in the third quarter. The Athenas went up 10-4 before Sofia Moschetti and Delaney Latham scored before the period ended to make it a 10-6 game heading into the final frame.

Neida Torres scored to start the fourth quarter to make it 10-7 before the Athenas scored three to take a commanding 13-7 lead.  Emme Doube-MacLeod got one goal back for the Titans before the Athenas closed out the game.

The Titans will head out to Redlands next weekend for the Redlands OCH Tamale Invitational.  They will take on Occidental on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. to kick off the tournament.
