Men's Soccer Drops Road Match at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer fell to CSUN on the road Saturday night by a final score of 3-1. With the loss the Titans drop to 4-6-3 on the year and 0-3 in Big West play.

The Titans got off to a strong start, scoring in the 10th minute of play to take an early 1-0 lead. Jose de la Torre had a perfectly placed shot to the top right corner of the net off a free kick to give Fullerton the lead.

The lead didn't last long as CSUN answered less than a minute later in the 11th minute to tie the game at 1-1.

Following two early goals and a frantic pace to the start of the game, both sides settled down and played a much more conservative style of play. Even with the slowed down pace CSUN found a way to get off plenty of shots, out-shooting the Titans 22-9.

The second half was back-and-forth for the first 35 minutes before CSUN took a 2-1 lead in the 81st minute. After giving up the go-ahead goal the Titans pushed on the attacking looking for the equalizer but opened themselves up on the defensive end, allowing CSUN to take a 3-1 lead in the 87th minute.

Fullerton looks to break the three-game losing streak Wednesday night at Titan Stadium against California Baptist. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
