Fast Start Powers Titans to Road Victory

Titans sweep the week with 98-73 victory on the road against Cal Poly.

San Luis Obispo, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's basketball team traveled to face Cal Poly on Saturday evening to split the season series between the Titans and Mustangs. The Titans advanced to 5-5 in Big West play and 10-12 on the season thanks to their 98-73 win on the road.
 
The Titans and Mustangs traded points in the first seven minutes of the game before Fullerton pulled away with a lead that they would take to the buzzer. CSF trailed by just four before pulling ahead after a three-pointer from Joshua Ward. The Titans continued to tally onto their lead, heading into the second half with a 12-point, 46-34 lead.
 
Ward led the first half with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. The Titans only turned over the ball three times, while the Mustangs tallied 11 turnovers. Fullerton logged 14 points from Cal Poly's mistakes. The Titans shot 41% and recorded a 38% shooting percentage from the three-point line.
 
In the second half, the Titans did nothing but add on to their lead over the Mustangs. The Titans tallied 47 in the second half, which was plenty to stay on top and come back home with their second win of the week.
 
Christian Williams led the team with 17 in the second half. Fullerton shot 57% and had a 36% 3PT%. In the final 20 minutes, the Titans and Mustangs each had eight turnovers. Fullerton tallied five while Cal Poly tallied six points from turnovers.
 
Williams tallied a season-high 26 points, leading the team in their win over the Mustangs. The freshman shot 50% and was perfect at the charity stripe, netting all six attempts. Williams also tallied four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
 
Ward, Kendrick De Luna and Landon Seaman joined Williams with double figures in San Luis Obispo. Ward led the team in rebounds, assists and blocks; tallying eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.
 
The Titans are on the road again on Jan. 31 at UC Santa Barbara at 6 p.m.
