USAFA, Colo. – The Fullerton Titans dominated in the pool in the first matchup of the Rare Air Challenge, resulting in a 15-7 win against the Augustana Vikings. In game two of Saturday's doubleheader, the Titans and Falcons went back and forth in a high-scoring game which ended in the host's favor.
Andrew Barnuevo led Fullerton with a total of seven goals on the day.
Titans 15, Augustana 7
The Fullerton Titans scored early and kept that momentum going throughout the entire game which resulted in a 15-7 win against the Augustana Vikings on Saturday morning. A total of ten different Titans found the back of the cage at least once, contributing to Fullerton's first win of the season.
The Titans won all four sprints, tallied 11 steals, and took advantage of the Vikings' seven exclusions as three of their 15 goals were scored on a power play. CSF outscored the Vikings in each frame and their big 9-3 lead at the half set them up for success in the long run.
Fullerton held Augustana to only seven goals as
Ethan Ivey and
Noah Stark split time, guarding the cage for one half each. Both goalies tallied a save and
Jacob Hatch nabbed a field block.
Andrew Barnuevo led Fullerton as he recorded a hat trick, firing one to the back of the net in each of the first three quarters.
Nico D'Angelo, and Hatch recorded four of the Titans six goals in the second quarter, logging a pair each.
Jace Peterson joined in the multi-goal fun when he put two past the goalie in the final quarter.

Samuel Branco were among the ten Titans who found the back of the net in CSF's first win of the season.
Titans 12, Air Force 14
In game two on Saturday, the Titans faced the host, Air Force Falcons, in a game that consisted of many exciting plays and had fans on the edge of their seats as both teams were scoring left and right.
Nico D'Angelo had a highlight-reel play at the end of the first half, but the Titans were unable to make a comeback resulting in a 14-12 loss on Saturday evening.
Air Force took an early 2-0 lead, but Barnuevo wiped that away, almost immediately. He scored back-to-back goals on power plays to tie the game at two with a minute to go in the first. The Falcons tacked on two more to take a 4-2 lead going into the second quarter.
Julian Nichols and
Jacob Hatch scored two of the Titans' four second quarter goals on penalty shots. Barnuevo tallied his third goal of the game just before the two-minute mark. Seconds before the game was sent to halftime,
Ethan MacLeod fired one off of the keeper's hands. The ball landed right in front of
Nico D'Angelo with the clock reading 0:01. D'Angelo fired it past the goalie to tie the game at six heading into the half.
Marton Thuroczy opened and closed the third quarter with the only two Titans goals of the period. Air Force slipped away with four goals in the quarter which benefited them as the fourth rolled in.
Going into the fourth quarter, the Titans trailed 10-8 and attempted a comeback as Nichols, MacLeod, Barnuevo and
Togan Ozbek recorded a goal, but the Falcons matched Fullerton with four goals in the quarter, resulting in a 14-12 win for the host.
Barnuevo led the Titans with four goals and two drawn exclusions while D'Angelo led with three assists against the Falcons. In the goal,
Ethan Ivey recorded eight saves.
Cal State Fullerton is back in action tomorrow as they face UC Merced at 10:10 a.m. and McKendree at 1:20 p.m.
