Titans Defeat Manhattan in Straight Set Victory

Ketesia Hall surpasses 130 career kills, records the match-winning kill on .286 hitting

SEATTLE – The Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team defeated Manhattan in straight sets, 25-11, 27-25, 25-15, on Friday at the Seattle U Invitational for its first sweep of the season.

The Titans (3-2) outhit the Jaspers (1-5) .363 to .138, showcasing a dominant performance on both sides on the net from first to last whistle.

Ketesia Hall powered the Titans to their 3-0 victory with 12 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and two aces, including the match-winning point. With her 10th kill, Hall surpassed 130 career kills and gave the Titans a 13-7 advantage ini the third set. On the season, she is hitting .147 with 44 kills and 18 blocks. 



Setter Kahea Carvalho (36 assists) opened the match with an ace and kill, while Hall followed with two quick kills for an early 4-0 lead. Lira Pukl Verdel paced the Titans to a 22-9 lead over the Jaspers, scoring four straight Titan points with three kills and a service ace. Sarah Schubert closed the set with one of her six kills. 



In the second set, Hall sparked the offense with her fifth kill of the match. Hannah Hass added a kill and block assist with Hall as the Titans went on a 6-0 run to lead 12-5. Fullerton tallied 14 kills on .367 hitting in the set to take a 2-0 match lead.

The Titans carried the momentum into the final frame, opening with three straight points, including a service ace and kills by Hall and Pukl Verdel. Fullerton closed out the match with 14 kills on .273 hitting and improved to within one win of matching last season's four-win total.

Fullerton wraps up play at the Seattle U Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Idaho. The Titans defeated the Vandals 3-2 earlier this season.
