SEATTLE – Titans Volleyball (2-2) fell in five sets to Seattle U (3-1), 14-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-23, 5-15, on Thursday night at the Seattle U Invitational.Â
Zariah Crosby powered the Titans with 12 kills on .350 hitting and three blocks.
Carissa Wiles added nine kills, while
Lira Pukl Verdel finished with eight.
Hannah Hass and
Sarah Schubert each tallied five kills, and
Ketesia Hall chipped in four. Fullerton hit .110 as a team with 43 kills and matched the Redhawks at the net with 11 blocks.
Seattle U controlled the first set in a 25-24 win, but the Titans responded with a hard fought second set. Fullerton battled through nine ties and four lead changes as Pukl Verdel opened the set with two service aces. Hass and Hall tied the set at 10-10 with a block assist. A Crosby kill pushed the Titans to set point at 25-24, and they closed it out, 26-24, to even the match.

The Redhawks regained control in the third, pulling away for a 25-19 victory before the Titans kept the match alive with a tight 25-23 fourth-set win. A series of Seattle U attack errors and back-to-back kills by Pukl Verdel gave the Titans an early lead, while Crosby and Hass denied an attack to push Fullerton ahead 20-14. The Redhawks found momentum late in the set, but Hall recorded a solo block to force a deciding set.
Seattle jumped out quickly with a 6-1 lead and secured the match with a 15-5 win in the fifth.
The Titans return to action Friday, Sept. 5, against Manhattan at 1 p.m. at the Redhawk Center.
