Men's Soccer Falls to San Diego State in Final Nonconference Match

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton fell to San Diego State by a final score of 1-0 Saturday night at Titan Stadium. With the loss the Titans finish nonconference play with a 3-3-4 record.

The Titans dominated the match from start to finish but weren't able to find the back of the net, being shutout for the first time this season.

Fullerton recorded a season-high 36 shots on the night with 11 of them being on goal. San Diego State's goalkeeper stood tall in net with 11 saves. The Titans fired off 17 shots in the first half and 19 shots in the second.

The Titans' 36 shots against San Diego State is the most in a single game since Aug. 28, 2022.

Aside from recording 29 shots more than San Diego State, the Titans controlled the ball for a majority of the game with 65 percent of the possession and set the pace of the match for the entire 90 minutes.

Fullerton gave up the only goal of the game in the 17th minute of play on a misplayed ball by the defense, giving San Diego State's Juan Sepeda an easy shot at goal from just outside the six-yard box.

Jose de la Torre was all over the pitch Saturday night, making plays on both defense and offense. The sophomore finished the match with 12 shots, four of them on goal.

The Titans turn their attention to Big West play starting Wednesday night at home against UC Santa Barbara. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT.
