Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah – Cal State Fullerton defeated Utah Tech by a final score of 3-1 Sunday night on the road at Greater Zion Stadium. With the win the Titans improve to 3-2-4 on the year.Â
The Titans got off to a slow start, giving up the opening goal in the 18th minute to fall behind 1-0 early in the game.Â
Fullerton went on the attack and quickly responded with a goal by Fitz Williams in the 20th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Utah Tech's goalkeeper came out of the net to clear the ball which Williams took advantage of with an easy shot at an empty net.Â
Just before halftime the Titans took a 2-1 advantage after an own goal by Utah Tech. With the Titans applying pressure, a Utah Tech defenseman attempted to play the ball back to the goalkeeper but missed his target and gave the Titans a goal.
The Titans took a commanding 3-1 lead in the 74th minute on a goal by freshman Alex Lugo. After a clearance from the Fullerton defense, Jose Mariscal made a perfect touch pass to an unmarked Lugo who had just the goalkeeper to beat.Â
Fullerton returns to action Saturday at Titan Stadium against San Diego State in the final nonconference game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Â
