FULLERTON, Calif. ā Cal State Fullerton and Seattle finished in a high-scoring 3-3 draw Thursday night at Titan Stadium. With the draw the Titans are now 2-2-4 on the year.Ā
The second half was a back and forth affair with a total of five goals scored. With the Titans trailing 1-0, Mario Carlos tied the game at 1-1 in the 54th minute of play. Jose de la Torre made a great assist, passing to Carlos on the opposite side of the field to set up the goal. For Carlos, it is his second goal of the season.Ā
Fullerton went on to take the lead in the 65th minute on a goal by Hughie Eaton, his second of the season. De la Torre once again assisted on the goal, hitting a perfect ball into the box off a free kick which Eaton headed in.Ā Ā
Seattle answered back in the 70th minute to tie the game at 2-2.Ā
The Titans kept attacking, searching for the go-ahead goal and found it in the 75th minute on a penalty kick by Fernando Valenzuela. Eaton drew the foul near goal to set up the PK and give Fullerton a 3-2 lead.Ā
Fullerton had a few opportunities to put the game away but were unable to down the stretch. Seattle took advantage and scored the tying goal in the 89th minute of action.Ā
With the final seconds ticking down, the Titans had a great chance to score the game-winner as they had three attackers against one Seattle defender. However, Fullerton's last second shot went just wide of goal to end the game in a 3-3 draw.Ā
The Titans dominated on the attacking end, recording a season-high 30 shots to Seattle's 12. Fullerton also earned eight corner kicks to the Redhawks three corners.Ā Ā
By all accounts the Titans had the better first half as well. However, the scoreboard showed otherwise as Seattle went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.Ā
Fullerton nearly equaled its season-high shot total in the first half alone with 16 shots, four of them being on goal. The Titans held Seattle to just four shots in the first half.Ā
The Titans are back on the road Sunday night for a matchup with Utah Tech at Greater Zion Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
