Hass, Hall Power Titans Past Golden Eagles, 3-1

Ketesia Hall and Hannah Hass combine for 47 kills and 22 blocks, receive All-Tournament Team honors

MOSCOW, IDAHO – The Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team defeated Oral Roberts 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20) on Saturday morning at the Vandal Volleyball Invitational. The Titans improved to  2-1, marking their first winning record after opening weekend since 2019.  

Hannah Hass led Fullerton with 12 kills on a .579 hitting percentage, three aces and five blocks. Through the first two sets, she hit .500 with five kills on 10 attempts. Ketesia Hall (4 K, 3 BA) and Hass remained powerful on the court, opening the match with a 2-0 lead. The dynamic duo received All-Tournament recognition for their standout performances over the weekend. 



The Titans extended their lead to 15-9 before Oral Roberts cut it to 15-13. Fullerton's blocking force responded, recording three blocks. Kaia Herweg (4 K, 3 SA, 13 D), Zariah Crosby (9 K, 3 BA), and Lira Pukl Verdel (9 K, 11 D) put away kills to take the set, 25-20. 
 

The Golden Eagles evened the match at 1-1 in the second set, registering 16 kills to Fullerton's 11. 

The Titans regained momentum in the third set, opening with kills from Pukl Verdel and a block assist by Hass and Carissa Wiles for a 4-2 lead. Pukl Verdel maintained a heavy arm at the net, extending Fullerton's lead to 20-16 before a Crosby kill and Hall ace closed the frame, 25-21. 
 

Tied at 15-15 in the fourth set, the Titans set a season-high scoring run of seven points for a 22-15 lead over the Golden Eagles. Crosby found her ninth kill, Hass recorded her 12th, and an Oral Roberts service error secured the 3-1 victory for the Titans. 

Fullerton outhit Oral Roberts .248 to .106 and finished with the advantage in aces (9-7), digs (69-59) and blocks (9.5-4). 

The Titans head to the Pacific Northwest for the Seattle U Invitational on Sept. 4-6. They open Thursday at 6 p.m. against Seattle U, followed by matches with Manhattan on Friday and Idaho on Saturday.
