Box Score POMONA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball pushed Cal Poly Pomona to five sets in its preseason match but came up short against the Broncos, falling 25-20, 20-25, 19-25, 26-24, 10-15 on Saturday at Kellogg Arena.
The Titans opened the match with a 25-20 win and forced a deciding fifth set with a 26-24 victory late in the fourth. The Broncos responded with a 15-10 finish to close out the scrimmage.
Kaia Herweg led the Titans with 11 kills, while five other Titans found five kills apiece. Freshman
Elon Smith hit an impressive .714 after finding five kills on seven attacks. Setter
Kahea Carvalho dished out 18 assists and nine digs in her first appearance as a Titan, while freshman
Mia Feldhaus led the back row with a team-high 16 digs.
As a team, the Titans recorded 67 digs and six service aces, maintaining a consistent pressure on the attacking Broncos despite posting a .110 team hitting percentage.
Titans Volleyball opens the 2025 regular season at the Vandal Volleyball Invitational, hosted by the University of Idaho, Aug. 29-30. The Titans face Portland (1:00 p.m.) and Idaho (6:00 p.m.) on Friday before wrapping up opening weekend against Oral Roberts on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
