NEW ORLEANS – Cal State Fullerton volleyball fell to Tulane in straight sets (13-25, 18-25, 21-25) on Thursday. The Titans moved to 4-6 overall.Â
Bella Risling and
Marisa Nakata led the Titans with 10 kills apiece. Nakata recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Sibley Oster served as Fullerton's setter against Tulane, recording 26 assists and one service ace. As a team, the Titans tallied 33 kills, 31 digs, five blocks and two service aces.Â
Fullerton dropped the opening set, 25-13, after hitting .000 compared with Tulane's .440 hitting percentage. The Titans responded to an early 1-0 deficit with a kill by Risling and a service ace by
Emilia Graham to take a 2-1 lead. The Green Wave powered to a 10-5 advantage before extending its lead to 15-8. Risling disrupted Tulane's 6-0 scoring run with a kill, while
Hannah Hass tallied two kills to cut Fullerton's deficit to seven, 18-11.

A 6-0 scoring run by Tulane pressured the Titans to call for a timeout. Fullerton answered with the next two points on a kill from Hass and a block assist by Hass and Oster, but Tulane secured the set on a 5-0 scoring run to take a 1-0 match lead.Â
Tulane took the second set, 25-18. The Titans recorded a .171 hitting percentage backed by six kills from Risling. The freshman power-hitter used two of her kills to tie the set at 2-2. Hass extended Fullerton's early lead to 5-3 with a kill and solo block, the 15th solo block of her career.

Tulane answered with a 5-0 run to lead the Titans, 8-5. Risling, Shine, Nakata and
Zariah Crosby added kills in an attempt to even the match, but Tulane closed the set on a 6-1 scoring run.Â
The Green Wave completed its straight-set victory with a 25-21 win in the third set. Fullerton battled from a 5-1 deficit to even the set at 6-6, highlighted by kills from Risling, Shine and Nakata. Tulane pushed to a 15-10 advantage at the media timeout, but kills from Nakata and Hass held the set within three, 15-12. Crosby brought the score within one, 18-17, with a kill before combining at the net with Oster to earn the Titans their first lead of the set, 19-18.Â

Oster contributed a service ace, but Tulane sealed the set and match with consecutive points.Â
Fullerton travels across town for the Pelican Invitational, hosted by New Orleans, Sept. 18-19. The Titans will face Florida A&M at 9 a.m. PT and New Orleans at 4:30 p.m. PT on Friday.
