FORT MYERS, FLA. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer 2025 season opener at Florida Gulf Coast University was abandoned and canceled on Thursday due to weather and unplayable field conditions.
The Titans had two shots with
Cayla Oliveira missing wide and
Sasha Amezcua launching one above the FGCU net on a half volley. However, due to the match not going at least 70 minutes, no statistics will be officially registered from the game.
After playing the first 16 minutes of the first half, a lightning warning was sounded and both teams and spectators were forced to evacuate the premises. Due to continuing rainfall and lightning strikes, the game wasn't allowed to continue and will not be replayed in the future.
The Titans will now head back home and have their home and season opener on Sunday, August 17th against Cal. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM.
