SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team lost two games at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday at the Aztec Aquaplex. The Titans dropped their first game of the day in a close game against Bucknell, falling 10-9. The Titans lost their second game of the day against No. 17 Indiana 13-7.
Cal State Fullerton 9, Bucknell 10
The Titans led the game early against Bucknell before falling behind late in the second quarter. Â The Titans came from behind three separate times to tie the game in the second half but ultimately couldn't push ahead when they had tied the game or find the final equalizer at the end.
Elise Bliss led the team with 4 points on two goals and two assists against the Bisons. Â
Destiny Hernandez and
Emme Doube-MacLeod also both had braces in the game. Â
Delaney Latham,
Mia Solorzano, and
Jade Lonzo all found the back of the net as well. Â
Annabelle Sherman made five saves and three steals in the cage.
Destiny Hernandez opened the scoring for the Titans in the first quarter to make it a 1-1 game.

Emme Doube-MacLeod scored the second and
Elise Bliss scored in the first quarter as the Titans finished ahead 3-2.

Bucknell scored to start the second quarter to bring the game all square at 3-3. Â The Titans got two goals from
Emme Doube-MacLeod and
Destiny Hernandez to take a 5-3 lead over the Bisons.

However, Bucknell scored three straight to take a 6-5 lead over the Titans. Â The Titans tied the game back up at 6-6 as
Elise Bliss scored her second goal of the game. Â However, the Bisons scored with three seconds left in the quarter to take a 7-6 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was a defensive struggle as both sides only scored one goal a piece. Â
Delaney Latham scored for the Titans as Bucknell remained ahead 8-7 at the end of the third quarter.

Jade Lonzo tied the game at 8-8 to start the fourth quarter before the Bisons scored twice to take a 10-8 lead over the Titans.

Mia Solorzano scored with 49 seconds left to bring the Titans within one at 10-9. Â The Titans defense prevented the Bisons from doing anything on their next possession but Solarzano's shot went wide at the buzzer to hand the Bisons the win over the Titans.Â

Cal State Fullerton 7, No. 17 Indiana 13
The Titans lost their second game of the day against the No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers 13-7.  It was a close match in the first quarter before the Hoosiers went on a 6-0 scoring run during the second and third quarter to establish a big lead over the Titans.
Destiny Hernandez and
Delaney Latham both scored braces in the game. Â
Jade Lonzo,
Emme Doube-MacLeod, and
Elise Bliss also found the back of the net for the Titans.Â
Annabelle Sherman was immense in the cage making 11 saves.
The Titans jumped to a 2-0 lead against the Hoosiers as Hernandez and Doube-MacLeod both scored.

Delaney Latham added a third goal to make it a 3-1 lead for the Titans in the first.

The Hoosiers then scored three straight to take a 4-3 lead over the Titans. Â
Elise Bliss scored to make it a 4-4 game.

The Titans had a chance to score again but missed on their second 5-meter penalty of the day and the Hoosiers scored to take a 5-4 lead over the Titans after the first quarter.Â
The Hoosiers outscored the Titans 3-0 in the second quarter to take a 8-4 lead into halftime. The Hoosiers scored the first two of the third quarter to take a 10-4 lead over the TItans. Â
Jade Lonzo finally broke the scoring drought to make it a 10-5 game.

The Hoosiers outscored the Tians 3-2 during the final frame as
Delaney Latham and
Destiny Hernandez both scored their second goals of the game.Â
The Titans will return to Fullerton next weekend to host a mini tournament with Macalester College and Concordia University Irvine. Both matches will take place at Fullerton College as the Titans Aquatic Center remains unavailable.
