VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Junior Abel Jordan earned himself an invite to the NCAA Indoor Championships in the men's 60m hurdles Friday evening for the first time in his collegiate career at Cal State Fullerton.
The Spanish native qualified for the championships by the narrowest of margins with a time of 7.61 that was tied with Depaul's Darius Brown and Florida State's Tyson Williams to round out the field of 16.
On Friday evening in Virginia Beach, Jordan was unable to improve on his qualifying time in his semifinal race.

After getting out of the blocks well, Jordan clipped his second hurdle with his back foot which stole his momentum as he crossed the finish line with a time of 7.69 (13th).Â
Although this was not the ideal result, it was still a good finish to a great indoor season for Jordan. In addition to qualifying for the NCAA Championships, he broke the European U23 record in the 60m (6.54) and gained the Spanish U23 record in 60m hurdles (7.53).
Earlier this season, Jordan took the title in the 60m at the Silver State Invitational with a 6.65 finish in the final round and broke his own school record in the men's indoor 60m hurdles with a 7.59 in the semi-final in Albuquerque at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.Â
Jordan continues his busy winter as he competes with Cal State Fullerton's outdoor track team. Come support Jordan and the rest of the track squad in their next meet Saturday, Mar. 15 at the Challenge Cup at UC Irvine. Events begin at 1:00 p.m.Â
