SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Titans (6-24) were on the road Saturday night at LionTree Arena to face The Big West front-runner UC San Diego Tritons (26-4) for their final meeting of the season. The Titans fell victim to another rough shooting night, as UCSD seemingly couldn't miss, in their 100-55 loss.Â
Antwan Robinson led the way offensively with his first double-double of the season scoring 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc and 10 rebounds.
Kobe Young followed in the scoring column with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Donovan Oday and Kendrick De Luna each contributed 10 points with Oday securing six boards to round out the Titan leaders.
Fullerton took their time getting established early in the first half as the Tritons jumped out to a 12-0 lead before coach Taylor called a timeout to try and regather the troops. Â
Out of the timeout, the Titans looked refocused and went on a 7-0 scoring run, their largest of the game, with Kobe Young going coast-to-coast, then hitting a wide-open three from the wing off the Keith Richard assist to cut the lead to 14-7 with 13:36 remaining the opening half.Â
The Titans were able to create a presence down low, scoring 10 of their 17 first half points in the paint. However, the Tritons caught fire and finished the half on a 25-4 run to give them a comfortable 49-17 lead heading into the intermission.Â
The second half opened up the same way it ended for the Titans, cold. Fullerton continued to struggle to put the ball through the hoop only scoring two points through the first four minutes of the second half.
Kobe Young managed to temper the scoring blitz with his dribble penetration into the lane and late drop-off assist to Richard to cut the lead to 57-19 with 16:53 remaining.
De Luna continued to be a presence down low as he scored seven of his ten points in the second half.Â
Robinson finished his scoring with a late 3-pointer from the corner before the UC San Diego Tritons closed the game out 100-55 to send the Titans home for the evening.Â
The Titans are back in action at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at Cal Poly SLO. The game will be streaming live on ESPN +.
