FULLERTON, Calif. -
Jana Falsdottir scored a career high 18 points to lead the resurgent Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team in a 78-68 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.
The Titans completed the season sweep over the Roadrunners and picked up their fifth win in conference. The Titans have won of five of their last seven conference games. However, they still remain on the hunt behind Cal Poly for the eighth and final spot to the Big West Championship in Henderson after the Mustangs blew out CSUN at home on Saturday. Â
After being tied 33-33 at halftime against the Roadrunners the Titans outscored Cal State Bakersfield 45-to-35 during the second half to secure the win.Â
Jana Falsdottir scored a new career high 18 points as she shot a highly efficient 6-for-7 from the field and 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Â
Aaliyah Stanton also scored 18 points. Â
Eva Levingston and
Aixchel Hernandez both flirted with doubles after Levingston had 9 points and 10 boards and Hernandez had 10 points and 8 boards. The Titans shot 44.2% from the floor and 57.1% from beyond the arc as they made a season high eight 3-pointers.  The Titans and Roadrunners both had 38 rebounds.  The Titans also went 24-for-34 from the free throw line for the game.

The first quarter finished the Roadrunners ahead of the Titans 19-18.
Jana Falsdottir scored 8 of her 18 points in the second quarter. Neither side could find separation by more than one possession for most of the quarter and Falsdottir hit a three-pointer with 34 seconds left ato make it a 33-33 game heading into halftime.Â

The Titans outscored the Roadrunners 17-to-12. Â
Madelynn Muniz hit two-three pointers early in the quarter to give the Titans a 5-point lead at 42-37.

Eva Levingston made a layup with 2:42 left in the quarter to give the Titans a 9-point lead at 50-41. Â However, they went scoreless over the final two minutes and Bakersfield cut the deficit back to five at 50-45 to end the third quarter.
The Titans pulled ahead by 12 points midway through the fourth quarter and led 63-51 after
Eva Levingston muscled her way to basket.

The Roadrunners pulled to within 9 points before
Jana Falsdottir hit a stepback 3-pointer to make it 66-54 with 3:17 left.

As the Roadrunners tried to bring the lead back to under double digits, the Titans were able to make most of their free throws down the stretch. They went 16-for-24 from the charity stripe in the final quarter.
The Titans will remain at home next Thursday as they play only one game next week. Â They host the UCSB Gauchos who they previously beat 64-61 on the road. Â Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM on Thursday.
