FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team took the first set against Big West leader UC Davis before the Aggies rallied to win in four (25-22, 12-25, 12-25, 20-25) on Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym. The Titans move to 8-18 overall and 3-11 in conference play.Â
Zariah Crosby put the Titans on the board early with a pass from
Devin Hicks for a 1-0 lead over UC Davis.
Lira Pukl Verdel and
Fina Tuinauvai teamed up at the net with
Hannah Hass to extend the advantage to 5-2. The Titans were first to reach 10 points after a
Marisa Nakata ace, and a
Ketesia Hall kill made it 11-7.Â
Hass, Tuinauvai, and Hall continued to anchor the defense with key blocks to push the lead to 17-10. UC Davis responded with a 4-0 run before Crosby and Tuinauvai combined for another block to halt the rally. The Aggies closed the gap to 24-22, but a UC Davis attack error sealed the 25-22 set win for the Titans. Fullerton finished the frame with six blocks and 13 kills while hitting .190.
The Aggies opened the second set with an early 7-3 lead, putting away four kills.
Kahea Carvalho dumped in a kill to trail 10-5, while the Aggies powered to a 20-8 advantage. Hass and Crosby sent two kills down the middle in an effort to slow momentum before the Aggies evened the match with a 25-12 win.Â
Momentum stayed with UC Davis into the third set. Hass and Crosby recorded kills to trail 9-5, but errors by the Titans in attack and service allowed the Aggies to jump to a 17-7 lead. Pukl Verdel and Nakata smashed kills before UC Davis took control of the match with a 25-12 set victory.Â
The Titans opened the fourth set on a 3-0 run, highlighted by a Pukl Verdel kill and two Nakata service aces. UC Davis knotted the set at 3-3 before Hall and Hass combined at the net to put the Titans back on top. The Aggies and Titans traded points through 12 ties, with kills from Crosby and Pukl Verdel keeping Fullerton in the mix, before UC Davis went on a 6-0 run to take a 23-19 lead. UC Davis ultimately took the match with a 25-20 fourth-set win.Â
The Titans hit the road for the final time in the 2025 regular season, visiting Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 14 and CSUN on Nov. 15. Friday's match against the Roadrunners is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with Saturday starting at 6 p.m.Â
