Portland, Ore. – The Titans traveled to Portland on Friday to face the Portland Pilots in the Portland Invitational Tournament. Fullerton had a slow start and locked in shortly after, but the Pilots kept their momentum going, carrying them to a 103-85 victory in front of their home crowd.
Joshua Ward nailed a three to begin the scoring for Fullerton. At the 17:49 mark, the game was tied at five before Portland posted 13 unanswered points in three minutes, taking an 18-5 lead over the Titans.
The Titans logged a few points but ended up being down by as many as 22 with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Fullerton quickly started to chip away at the Pilots' lead, bringing it down to 12, with the scoreboard reading 49-37. Both teams tacked on a few more for a score of 57-42 at the end of the first half.
Fullerton struggled with turnovers in the first half, recording 11, while Portland capitalized on those mistakes, nabbing 20 points from Fullerton's first half turnovers. The Titans had a 45% shooting percentage and shot 47% from behind the arc. The Titans bench continued to impress, logging 17 points.
Fullerton got the scoring started the second time around when Ward found his way to the basket. For about four minutes, the two teams traded points back and forth before
Landon Seaman took charge, posting nine straight points for Fullerton. The Pilots went on to extend their lead, sealing a 103-85 win at home.
The Titans improved on their ball control in the latter half as they only had two. CSF outscored Portland 9-2 in points from turnovers and 20-18 in points in the paint. The Titans also improved their field goal percentage to 50% in the second half.
Ward led the Titans with 17 points on the night, paired with five rebounds and a block.
Jaden Henderson led the team in assists with eight and was one of two Titans to tally 15 points on the night, Seaman the other.
Bryce Cofield also had a double-digit night, logging 11 points, six assists and a steal.
