FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball and head coach Jason Dietrich announced the signing of eight student-athletes for the 2026-27 academic year. 

"This recruiting class will be a solid supplement to the foundation that has been built over the last couple years. This group is filled with some talented players, but they also have the Titan type mentality we look for," Dietrich said. "Overall, this class has seven high school players and one junior college player. With us having an older catching core we really had to address that position at a high level. We also added three quality arms, and two infielders that were also areas we were looking to add to. This is the first layer to this class as we will continue to supplement it throughout the year with most likely junior college players."

Jose Borrego
RHP | Apple Valley, Calif. | Sultana HS

"Jose has been a 2-way player in high school and will get some opportunity to do that here, but we really see his future and upside being on the mound. He has a clean delivery with easy operation and along with some feel to pitch."



Ty Diaz
SS | Stevenson Ranch, Calif. | West Ranch HS

"Ty is a switch-hitting SS that brings solid defense and offensive skills to the table. We see him continuing to develop and fill out his frame and growing into some power down the road. Ty has shown good bat to ball skills with gap-to-gap power."



Jake Escalante
LHP | Capitola, Calif. | Soquel HS

"Jake is a LHP that has taken big strides on the mound this past summer. We see him continuing to develop and has the traits of a starting pitcher. Jake has shown the ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes."



Noah Johnson
C | Anaheim, Calif. | Cypress HS

"Noah has the unique blend of offense and defense for a catcher. He has the leadership qualities that position demands. Noah has also shown some versatility to be able to play in the outfield."



Elius Kelly
INF | Alto Loma, Calif. | Damien HS

"Elius is a hard worker in the weight room and has shown up with his ability to drive the baseball. He has natural power and can play corner infield and outfield. Elius has the size and frame to develop into a power bat."



Brody Layne
RHP | Vista, Calif. | San Marcos HS

"Brody is a RHP that has the makings of a starting pitcher with a three-pitch mix. Brody is someone that we feel can come in and compete for innings as a freshman."



Lucas Martinov
C | Thousand Oaks, Calif. | Ventura College

"Lucas is a junior college catcher that has the experience and ability behind the plate to handle a college staff. He is very athletic back there and he can really throw. Lucas has a simple line drive stroke that will play at our level."



Hunter Reddeg
C | San Diego, Calif. | Point Loma HS

"Hunter has shown the ability to be a strong defender behind the plate with the right mentality and work ethic for the position. Hunter is wired the right way and plays the game hard, he has what it takes to handle the demands of the position."
