Bonner Earns First Career Win as Titans Defeat Hope at Home

FULLERTON, Calif. - Head Coach John Bonner of the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team earned his first carer win as the Titans defeated their neighbors Hope International University 81-to-51 at Titan Gym on Wednesday.

The Titans jumped to a dominant early lead and never had to look back the rest of the way.   The Titans shot 42.9% (27-for-63) for the game and held Hope to 36% from the floor.  The Titans forced 31 turnovers and were able to convert those into 33 points.  The Titans interior dominated inside the pant with 40 points.  Cristina Jones led the Titans with 23 points and 7 boards.  Maddy Tauro had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Mimi Moon and Maxine Sutisna both had 9 points each. 

The Titans went on an 18-0 run to the start the game as the Royals didn't score until there was 2:12 left in the quarter.  The Royals made just one field goal for the quarter with :51 seconds left in the first.  

Maddy Tauro set the tone early by slicing through the Royals defense to start the scoring.



Jana Falsdottir capped off the 18-0 run to start the game with a 3-pointer.



The Titans led 25-to-6 after the first quarter after holding Hope to a 6.7% from the floor (1-for-15) while the Titans shot 66.7% (10-for-15).  

Both sides scored 15 points each in the second quarter as the Titans took a 40-21 lead into halftime



The Titans jumped to a 27 point early in the third quarter.  The Royals cut it to 19 points before Talia Maxwell made back-to-back baskets. 



The Titans led 59-to-38 at the end of the third quarter. The Titans never let the lead go lower than 21 points the rest of the way.  The Titans shot a much improved 11-for-12 from the charity stripe in the fourth and 77.8% (21-for-27) for the game.

The Titans will head to Denver to begin a three game road trip on Sunday.  Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m. PST.
