Titans Earn Top 10 Team Finishes at Highlander Invitational

Isabella Smith leads the women to a sixth-place finish while the men place seventh at the Highlander Invitational.

Riverside, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Titans hit the road once again as they competed at UC Riverside in the Highlander Invitational on Saturday morning. The women's team recorded a sixth-place finish while the men finished in seventh. Personal bests, first collegiate races, and proud finishes were all a part of Saturday's meet.
 
Isabella Smith led the Titans with an impressive 20:31.1 finish which is a new personal-best and put her in second of 258. Makena Oliva and Quinn Roldan followed Smith and recorded personal bests. Oliva finished at 21:23.5 while Roldan rounded out the top 50 for the Titans with a 21:29.6 mark in 42nd.
 
Caitlyn Cilley, Natalyn Membreno, Barbora Svobodova, Grace Toriz, and Cassandra Apahidean, also recorded a personal-best at Saturday's meet.
 
Shandy Moore, Ashlynn Viramontes, Natalie Maahs, Kalei Aoki-Chance, Fiona Holloway, and Lexi Cilley competed in the women's 6k as well, contributing to Cal State Fullerton's women's team a sixth-place team finish.
 
Nathanial Avila led the group of Titans in the men's 8k to a seventh-place team finish. Avila placed 24th with a time of 24:16.1 and Justin Singer was behind him with a speedy time of 24:32.5. Samuel Berhane competed in his first collegiate race on Saturday morning. Berhane finished with a time of 25:03.6.
 
Luke Hitchcock, Matthew Kubler, Jaden Wiley, Andrew Quast, Dylan Jubak, Jacob Brown, Logan Harris, and Carlos Maradiaga were also among the Titans to race in the men's invite.
 
The Titans are back in action next Friday, Oct. 24 at home as they host the John Elders Titan Classic beginning at 5 p.m.
