Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Titans Fall to No. 5 Hawaii at the Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo lost their first game of the season on Friday morning against the No. 5 University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine 19-4 in their first game at the Triton Invitational.

With Friday's loss, the Titans moved to the consolation bracket where will take on another conference foe, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday morning at 9:20 AM at the Canyonview Pool.

Hawaii dominated the beginning of the game after jumping to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.  The Rainbow Wahine made it a 7-0 game before the Titans got on the board.  Freshman newcomer Emme Doube-Macleod who just joined the team days before the season, scored her first career goal in the second period to make it a 7-1 game.

The Rainbow Wahine led 9-1 after the first half.

The Titans had their best quarter in the third quarter where Hawaii only outscored them by one, 4-to-3.  Emme-Doube Macleod scored her second goal of the game and Neida Torres and Ileina Hatori also found the back of the net. The Rainbow Wahine led 13-to-4 after the third quarter.

The Rainbow Wahine outscored the Titans 6-0 during the final frame of the game.

The Titans will play two matches on Saturday regardless of the result of the game against Santa Barbara.  A win against UCSB in the morning sets them up for a showdown against the winner of Claremont-Mudd Scripps vs LMU.  A loss against the Gauchos would pair them with a match against the loser of CMS and LMU later in the afternoon.
