IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball lost to UC Irvine Thursday night by a final score of 82-62 at the Bren Events Center. With the loss the Titans drop to 5-14 on the year and 0-7 in conference play.
UC Irvine started the game on an 11-2 run while going 3-for-5 from three-point range. However, the Titans went on a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 23-22 thanks to six points on two quick three-point baskets by Zion Richardson off the bench.
Richardson had a strong first half for the Titans, leading the team with nine points off the bench on 3-of-5 shooting including 3-of-4 from three-point range. Richardson also led the team with seven rebounds in the first.
UC Irvine started to pull away at the end of the first half, going on a 19-6 run to end the half and take a 46-31 lead heading into the locker room.
Richardson finished the game with his first double-double as a Titans, scoring a team-high 14 points on 5-of-7 from the field while grabbing a tied for game-high and career-high 11 rebounds.
Fullerton looks to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon as it takes on Long Beach State at Walter Pyramid at 4:00 p.m.
