Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Fullerton's Effort Falls Short in Loss to Hawaii

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball fell to Hawaii Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym by a final score of 86-95. The Titans drop to 5-13 on the year and 0-6 in conference play with the loss.

The Titans played one of their best first halves of the season against Hawaii. While Hawaii held the lead for the majority of the half, Fullerton was exchanging blows throughout the 20 minutes.

Donovan Oday got the Titans offense going, scoring nine of the teams 16 points in the first seven minutes of action. Oday led the team with 11 points at halftime.

Lolo Rudolph was a key factor for the Titans in the first half, scoring a career-high five points while being a main catalyst pushing the ball up the court and slowing down Hawaii's ball handlers on the defensive end.

The Titans came out of the locker room at halftime on a mission to play with maximum effort on both ends. Oday got Fullerton an easy bucket to open the half, however, two offensive rebounds on the other end gave Hawaii second chance points to maintain a 46-40 lead.

Oday put on a scoring clinic for the Titans, dropping a game-high and career-high 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Zion Richardson added 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting while Kobe Young scored 14 points on 5-of-10 from the floor. Both Richardson and Young scored season-highs in Saturday's contest.

Fullerton's defensive intensity was at a premium in the second half. On the flip side, the Titans intensity led to Hawaii being in the bonus at the 14:14 mark of the second half which was a key factor throughout the half. Hawaii was nearly perfect at the line, shooting 36-of-38 for the game.

The Titans are back on the road next week as they head to UC Irvine on Thursday and Long Beach State on Saturday.
