RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball fell to Grand Canyon University in three sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-18) to close out their non-conference schedule on Saturday afternoon. The Titans stand 4-6 heading into Big West conference play on Tuesday.

As a team, the Titans fought through 11 ties and five lead changes before dropping straight sets to the Lopes. Despite the sweep, Fullerton recorded four more kills (43) and digs (50) than Grand Canyon. 

The Titans tied the match at 8-8 on a service ace by freshman Rylie Sengdara. They extended their run to eight points for an 13-8 lead, forcing Grand Canyon to take a timeout. Bianca Martinez grabbed four the 14 Titan kills in the first set before the Titans fell, 25-20, to the Lopes. 

Lolo Fonua (12 K, 4 DG, 2 BL) gave the Titans momentum early in the second set, tying the game at 1-1 on a kill. The Titans increased their run to three for a 3-1 lead before the Lopes retook and maintained the lead. The Titans tied the set at 16-16 but struggled to overtake the Lopes, dropping the second set 25-22. 

Fonua smashed a ball on an assist from Ryleigh Garis (22 A) to give the Titans their first 1-0 lead of the match. Fullerton kept pace with Grand Canyon, putting together 11 additional kills throughout the set. The Lopes found the last two points of the match to complete the sweep over the Titans.
