Moodie Set to Represent Fija at U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup

FULLERTON, Calif. - Talei Moodie of the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team will represent Fiji at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup that will take place in Colombia from Aug. 31 – Sept. 22.

Moodie is a junior forward who transferred from the University of San Diego.  She will represent her mom's nation for the first time in her career.  Moodie scored her first career goal in Thursday's 5-1 over the University of Nevada.
 

Fiji qualified for the U-20 World Cup for the first time in their nation's history at the 2023 OFC U-19 Women's Championship. Fiji finished second in the group stage behind New Zealand.  They defeated New Caledona 1-0 in the quarter-finals and Samoa 3-1 in the semi-finals to gain the automatic bid after making the championship game.  New Zealand defeated Fiji 7-0 in the final game.

Fiji opens the group stage of the U20 FIFA Women's World Cup on Saturday, August 31st, against Brazil, followed by matches with Canada (Sept. 3) and France (Sept. 6). Fiji will play all three of their group stage games at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot in Medellín.

The top two finishers in each group along with the four best third-place teams will advance to the round of 16 to be played on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12. The winners of those matches advance to the quarterfinals on Sept. 15, from which the winners will advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The third-place match will be held on Sept. 21 with the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup Final taking place Sept. 22.

Game 1 : August 31st, 2024 - Fiji vs Brazil - 18:00 (GMT-5) / 4:00 PM PST
Game 2 : September 3rd, 2024 - Fiji vs Canada - 20:00 (GMT-5) / 6:00 PM PST
Game 3 : September 6th, 2024 - Fiji vs France - 17:00 (GMT-5) / 3:00 PM PST

All three matches will stream on Telemundo in the USA while the match against Canada will also be shown on FS2
