First Half Barrage Leads Titans Over San Diego in Season Opener

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team defeated the University of San Diego 3-0 in their 2024 season opener on Thursday night at Titan Stadium.

The Titans won their season opener for the first time since the 2017 season when they defeated Seattle 2-0.

Makenna McGill scored the first goal of the season in the 22nd minute of the game.  Talei Moodie picked up a free ball from inside the circle and was able to pass a through ball to Makenna McGill who raced past her defender and buried it past the keeper to make it a 1-0 game.

Kaylee Noble subbed on for McGill and was able to make her mark right away in the game as she scored twice in the period.  She scored her first goal in the 32nd minute of the game.  Bella Cruz played a ball down the right side where Kaylin Raibon was able to outmuscle her defender to keep the ball in play and cross the ball into the box.  Noble took a touch and placed a perfect shot past two sliding defenders and the keeper inside the left post to make it 2-0.

Noble picked up her second goal of the game right before the first half ended.  Isabella Cruz won the ball on a tackle inside the Toreros half and played a perfect through ball to Noble who slotted the ball underneath the keeper to make it a 3-0 game.

The Titans outshot USD 17-5 for the game with an 8-2 advantage in the second half.  Talei Moodie, Kaitlin Taylor, and Isabella Cruz all had shots on goal saved by the keeper. Ranson moved into 3rd all-time outright with 14 shutouts and sixth all-time outright with 18 career victories.
