SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Andrew Aguilar placed second in the men's decathlon at the 2024 Big West Multi Championships Saturday.Â
Aguilar, the two-time Big West decathlon champion, totaled 7469 points in the two-day event, one shy of tying his own school record. He earned three individual event wins on Saturday but finished behind event winner Josh Farmer of UC Irvine (7566).Â
The senior from Chino Hills came into the day in third place, behind Farmer and Max Daniels of UC Irvine. He opened competition Saturday by winning the 110H, clocking a 14.68. Aguilar also won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.71m and the 1500m with a time of 4:32.45. He finished third in the discus (38.63m) and sixth in the javelin (48.55m).Â
Aguilar's second-place finish in the decathlon gives the Fullerton men's team eight points heading into next weekend's events at Cal Poly. The Titan men's squad looks to win its fourth straight Big West Championship while the women will compete for its first conference title since 2019.Â
